More than 1,000 members of the APS Baraka Sacco are expected to converge
in Nairobi Friday for a one-day training programme meant to empower them on a
number of areas of business.
The Sacco, which targets
and draws its membership from entrepreneurship in the Small and Micro
Enterprise sector, has membership across three counties in Nairobi, Machakos
and Kisii; with hundreds of employees from different sectors of the economy
also on their roll.
Thomas Osoro, the Chief
Executive Officer of the Sacco, says the meeting is important as it seeks to
educate their members on financial management, investment and the impact of
technology on their operations and overall trends in the cooperative movement.
“Member education is one of our core endeavours because our idea is to empower members so that their business and personal decisions ultimately achieve the greater objective of growth and development,” explains Osoro, adding that a similar event was held in 2019.
“So we shall be taking our
members through a programme that transcends just telling them about our sacco
products or opportunities they should seize but we shall be having experts in
finance and technology talking to them about how to enrich their knowledge base
for better returns on their investments and savings.”
High profile government
officials from the State department of cooperatives will be in attendance,
alongside the management and board of directors of the Sacco which was founded
in 2003 and has branches in Nairobi, Machakos and Kisii counties.
