LSK seeks to expel AG Paul Kihara, Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto

Law Society of Kenya is set to move a motion on 23 June seeking to expel AG Paul Kihara and Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto from their membership.



They have given the two officers seven days from Friday to tender their response.



The matter will be heard at the Ordinary General Meeting of the LSK to decide whether or not the duo should be expelled from the membership of the LSK.



Some of the grounds cited for their expulsion include failure to gazette members of LSK as essential service providers and failure to advise the President to appoint 41 judges.



LSK President Havi said the two had brought ridicule, shame, disrepute and dishonor as members of the lawyers body.



“Their conduct is so gross that it warrants their expulsion from the Law Society of Kenya,” Havi said.



According to him, the AG advised the President to disobey court orders over judges approved by the Judicial Service Commission.



“Kihara categorically stated that the 41 judges will not be sworn-in notwithstanding the decree of the High Court which has not been set aside or stayed,” Havi said.



“Kihara being the AG and a commissioner of the JSC sat through and participated in the interviews of the 41 judges,” he added.
