VOI, Kenya, Jan 12 — Two employees in the finance department of a prominent Sacco in Taita-Taveta County have been charged with conspiracy to murder after they allegedly hired an assassin to eliminate a colleague over an unfavorable audit report.
Livingstone Kirigha Mwakoi and Joram Tayo Mghanga, employees of Qwetu Sacco, were arraigned in court in Voi on Wednesday and charged with planning to kill one Stanley Mwangi Ndung’u.
The charge sheet reads that on diverse dates between 26th and 27th of December, the two jointly conspired to kill Stanley Ndung’u contrary to section 224 of the Penal Code.
Appearing before Voi Senior Principal Magistrate Tobiko Sikiyan, the two denied the charges and were each granted a cash bail of Sh100,000.
The two suspects were nabbed by sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who blew the lid on the cold-blooded plot hatched to silence the complainant over financial impropriety within the finance department.
The court set the pre-trial date for February 1, 2023.
