Businessman Jared Otieno and 15 other people charged in the KSh300 million fake gold scandal will know their fate this afternoon when the court will issue its ruling on their bail application.
The suspects have denied the charges against and have been in custody awaiting the court’s decision on whether or not they will be freed on bail.
The prosecution alleges that the accused jointly conspired to defraud Southorn Chanthavong, a director of Simuong Group, by fraudulently displaying heavy metal boxes marked as genuine gold between 8 and 25 February 2019.
In the second count, they are indicted for obtaining money by false pretence.
