The Judiciary has formally requested the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to launch an investigation into what it describes as persistent and baseless allegations of judicial corruption made by prominent lawyer Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi.
In a letter dated 20 May 2025, addressed to DPP Renson M. Ingonga, Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Hon. Winfridah B. Mokaya expressed concern over social media posts by Ahmednasir, claiming that a Supreme Court Judge accepted a KSh 4 million bribe to influence a Court of Appeal case.
According to Ahmednasir’s posts on X (formerly Twitter), the judge allegedly refunded KSh 3 million after the bribe failed to yield a favorable verdict. The Senior Counsel also claimed he was owed KSh 1.5 million by the judge for his role in facilitating the transaction.

“These posts were only the latest in a series… in which Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has consistently painted the Judiciary as a corrupt institution,” Mokaya stated.
She noted that despite the serious nature of the allegations, Ahmednasir has not filed any official complaint with the Judicial Service Commission or law enforcement.
The Judiciary now believes Ahmednasir’s conduct may amount to criminal behavior under Kenyan law and warns that his ongoing campaign risks undermining public confidence in the judiciary and eroding the rule of law.

“We therefore request your office to call for urgent investigations and subsequent prosecutorial action,” the letter concluded.
The Judiciary emphasized the importance of upholding the integrity of judicial institutions, cautioning that unchecked public accusations could destabilize Kenya’s constitutional democracy.
As of publication, Senior Counsel Ahmednasir had not publicly responded to the Judiciary’s letter or its call for legal action. The DPP’s office has yet to issue a formal statement on whether it will initiate an investigation.
