Coca-Cola dangles KSh1M weekly in new bottle cap promotion across Kenya

Coca-Cola has launched a new national campaign in Kenya that promises daily and weekly cash prizes, including a weekly payout of KSh1 million to lucky soda drinkers.
The Funua Flava promotion, which began rolling out this week, will run across the country and includes rewards ranging from airtime and data bundles to substantial cash prizes.
The promotion covers Coca-Cola’s popular soft drink brands, including Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Stoney, Krest, and Schweppes, provided they are purchased in 300ml glass bottles with yellow caps.
To enter, customers must check under the cap for a unique code and send it via SMS to 40111. Winners can be notified instantly.
While the brand’s representatives framed the campaign as part of Coca-Cola’s ongoing efforts to “refresh Africa” and reward consumer loyalty, for many Kenyans, the real attraction lies in the money, especially the KSh1 million up for grabs each week.
“The entire process is designed to be fast and accessible,” said Juliana Kituma, Director of Frontline Marketing at Coca-Cola East and Central Africa, during a press briefing in Nairobi. “Airtime goes directly to the winner’s phone. Cash prizes are sent via mobile money.”
With the country facing tough economic times, giveaways like these, especially those promising immediate mobile cash rewards, are likely to draw interest from a wide base of consumers.
The campaign comes amid rising living costs and an economy where even small windfalls can make a real difference. For some, a yellow soda cap could be the ticket to paying bills, buying groceries, or covering school fees.
Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, which operates the brand locally, did not specify how long the promotion will run, but said it will be “nationwide and ongoing,” with weekly KSh1 million winners expected throughout.
