
The Ministry of Education has released the revised 2023 school calendar for primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.
The calendar indicated that the first term which started on Monday January 23, 2023 will run for 13 weeks until the closing date on April 21st .
Learners will break for half term on March 16th, 2023 for 3 days to resume on March 19, 2023, followed by a two weeks holiday starting April 22 nd to May 7.
The second term will run for 14 weeks starting from 8 th May to August 11th. Half term will be from June 29 th to 2nd of July.
After the second term, schools will close from August 12 up to August 27.
Third term will run from 28th August to October 27 th, the shortest with only 9 weeks. No half term in third term.
This will be followed by a 10 weeks holiday from October 28th to January 8th 2024.
National examinations for KCPE and KPSEA will take four days starting on October 30th to the 2nd of November, while KCSE will run for three weeks starting November 3rd to November 24th.
KCSE marking will then commence on November 27th until 15th of December.
On the other hand, teachers training colleges for continuing 2022 and 2023 students whose second term started on Monday Jan 23 will run for 13 weeks until April 21st. They will have two weeks from April 22nd.
Their term three will commence on May 8th until August 11th. They will have a three weeks holiday from August 12th.
