Democracy for Citizens (DCP) Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua scoffed at the ongoing gatherings at State House, labelling them as hotbeds of corruption.
Gachagua accused President William Ruto of using the meetings under the pretext of political mobilisation to conceal corrupt activities.
According to the DCP boss, the engagements are not genuine forums for national dialogue but are instead avenues for questionable deals and political bribery.
While hosting Murang’a County Assembly Members at his Karen residence, the former Deputy President accused Ruto of misappropriating public funds to secure political loyalty. Gachagua argued that instead of channelling resources toward vital sectors such as education and healthcare, including school capitation and hospital improvements, funds are being wasted on fruitless political engagements.
“State House has now become a scene of crime. What happened in the statehouse is pure corruption and bribery. So far, President Ruto has spent KSh180 million in meetings that have no grounds, yet the taxpayers’ money could be used to improve living standards in our country,” Gachagua stated.
Gachagua said the misuse of taxpayer money is the reason for the frequent State House meetings, where participants allegedly receive cash in exchange for political allegiance.

Call for accountability
He lauded the MCAs who declined President Ruto’s State House invitation earlier that day, calling their action a sign of integrity.
“It is gratifying that MCAs can refuse a bribe of KSh300,000 to do the right thing. This shows that you respect people who elected you and you are satisfied with the salary that the people pay you as taxpayers,” he said.
He further criticised the Ruto administration for failing to deliver tangible development projects, saying the president has no significant achievements to showcase.
“I was the guarantor of Ruto with people from the mountain. We signed an economic charter with the people of Muranga, but 3 years down the line, he has done nothing about it. It is unnecessary to discuss development matters with people from Muranga now.”
Gachagua also warned of a plot to divide the Mount Kenya region politically. He urged unity among residents and called on them to reject any leaders allegedly sponsored by the president to sow division.
“President William Ruto is hell-bent on dividing Mount Kenya. He has prepared a small blue wheelbarrow to confuse the Muranga people into having a presidential candidate whom he is sponsoring, to divide the Murima. Unfortunately for him, people of Muranga have stayed focused despite countless attempts to bring political divides.”
