The Jubilee party has made the decision to separate itself from the continuing anti-government demonstrations and is further attempting to cut ties with the Azimio la Umoja coalition stated Eldas MP Adan Keynan.
Keynan stated this on Monday’s Citizen TV Daybreak program that the opposition’s ideas, which protests because it did not represent the interests of Kenyans during protests, are not shared by the party.
Jubilee has rejected and would continue to reject participation in maandamano that are specifically designed to destroy Kenyans’ property and lives, he added.
We were a part of the Azimio coalition during the election, but we wrote to leave protests because it did not represent the interests of Kenyans. As a result, we don’t support the Maandamano or the Sufuria Revolution as of this moment because we are aware of the ignorance of their proponents.
Apart from Jeremiah Kioni, who was suspended from his position as the party’s Secretary General, the politician, who also serves as the party’s temporary Deputy chairperson, said he had organized all party members to avoid the demonstrations.
“They are invisible to you. The only person you know who doesn’t speak for us is our former Secretary General Kioni,” he continued.
As groups led by Kioni and EALA MP Kanini Kega struggled for control of the party, the Jubilee party was tarnished by instability. In the interim, a stay order protecting Kioni’s position has been issued as a result of a High Court ruling suspending a Political Parties Disputes Tribunal judgement authorizing his suspension.
Kioni and the former vice chairman David Murathe were kicked out of the party hierarchy, claims Kega’s group. Due to his egregious wrongdoing, disrespect for the party’s organs, and failure to fulfill his obligations as Secretary General, Kioni was removed from the party.
On the other hand, Gichohi was suspended for reportedly refusing to follow the party’s directives and disrespecting the party’s headquarters, while Murathe was fired for flagrant misconduct.
Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was replaced as party leader by Nominated MP Sabina Chege under the Kega-led faction’s leadership. On the other side, Kagwe Gichohi will be replaced in a number of roles, including national treasurer, by Kitui South MP Rachael Nyamai.
