KPL Preview: Gor face Tusker, Ingwe seek to climb log

Gor Mahia FC and Tusker FC will be hoping to go top of the FKF Premier League when they lock horns on Wednesday afternoon at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.



Record Kenyan champions, Gor Mahia, face a stern test when they host the reigning champions in a round fixture.



K’Ogalo, on the back of a 1-0 win over City Stars will be seeking to pounce on a rather docile Tusker who seem to have run out of steam in recent times.



Tusker, 12-time champions have reigned supreme in their last three fixtures, winning two and drawing one, in fact the last time time Gor Mahia won against the brewers was in 2019.



Brewers’ coach Robert Matano has been overheard saying that his side will have to strengthen this window to help ease the injuries that have hit his side.



Gor Mahia’s Benson Omalla leads the scorers charts and head coach Johnathan McKinstry will be hoping that he does not lose his scoring touch as he did during the Mashemeji derby.



A win for Gor will see them top the standings if Nzoia Sugar drops points against Kariobangi Sharks, who held Tusker to a 1-1 draw last weekend.









On Thursday, AFC Leopards play FC Talanta at Kasarani, while Posta Rangers face Wazito.



Ingwe who held Nzoia Sugar to a goalless draw last weekend can climb up the log if they beat visiting FC Talanta and collect all three points.



Ingwe are seventh on 22 points from 14 games, while FC Talanta are 14 on 12 points from 13 matches.



League leaders Nzoia Sugar visit Kariobangi Sharks at Utalii Grounds bottom-placed Mathare United and Vihiga Bullets, who occupy position 17 on the log, meet at Ruaraka Grounds.



Kenya Police battle Nairobi City Stars at Kasarani Annex in the 1pm kick-off.
