Renowned Tanzanian hype boxer Karim Mandonga is set to thrill Kenyan boxing fans yet again with a scheduled second fight in Nairobi next month.
The confirmation by Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC) Secretary General Franklin Imbenzi will see Mandonga battle out with an unnamed Russian boxer for the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Super Middleweight title.
Imbenzi who also doubles up as a promoter at Solid Rock Promotions further disclosed the bouts will involve Mandonga as well as Kenyan stars Fatma Zarika, Rayton Okwiri, Sarah Achieng and Maurice Okola.
“We will have five main bouts on the day, Mandonga of course will be the highlight of the day,” he said.
Mandonga,43, is popularly known for his comical statements before bouts, is now unbeaten in five fights, one draw with two knockouts.
In his last fight in Nairobi, Mandonga ‘Mtu Kazi’ perfectly lived up to the hype he had single-handedly created as he triumphed over Kenya’s Daniel Wanyonyi via technical knockout in their Super Middleweight contest staged at the KICC Ballroom in Nairobi on Sunday morning.
With his fight having been pushed from being the curtain raiser to the main act of the day, the Tanzanian international delivered the goods against the Kenyan as he ensured the bout, planned to last for 10 rounds, ended halfway after Wanyonyi and his camp threw in the towel after the conclusion of the fifth round.
