A man said to have mental challenges has beheaded his two children in Kisii, leaving villagers in shock.
Nelson Mandela is said to have beheaded his two daughters aged under 10 years when he was left home with them on Friday morning, neighbours told police.
He then dumped their bodies in a maize plantation where they were discovered by his wife.
The incident occurred in Kiobegi Location in Nyamache.
His other three children had gone to fetch water while his wife was in the farm when he turned against the two without provocation.
And when the wife started screaming on finding the bodies that were just yards away from their home, her husband grabbed a machete and started chasing her, attracting the neighbours who subdued him.
The crowd almost lynched him before he was saved by police from the nearby station who took him in.
“We heard the wife Teresa screaming for help from the maize plantation, saying the husband has killed the children,” said Ombati Nyakundi, a neighbour.
The man is said to have had mental issues in the past three years.
“This man had mental challenges, we even fund-raised for him to get treatment at Mathare Hospital in Nairobi but the family opted for a witch-doctor,” said Ombati.
