NTSA extends operating hours to clear backlog

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced an extension of it’s operating hours in a bid to fasten the processing of new number plates, licenses, and logbook collection.
NTSA Director General in a statement on Friday, 29 September, stated that the authority’s offices will be open from Monday to Friday 7.30am to 6.00pm.
The offices will be operational for close to eleven hours on weekdays and 8 hours during the weekends for the next 2 weeks.
“All NTSA Banking Halls and offices will operate, Monday to Friday, from 7.30 am to 6.00 pm. Additionally, NTSA offices will remain open to the public on Saturday, 30 September, and 7 Saturday, October, 2023 from 8.00 am- 4.00 pm to enable number plate collection,” NTSA said.
The Transport Authority noted that the adjustment is part of the strategy to improve service delivery to citizens.
NTSA has called on individuals who received notifications for number plate collection to visit their offices.
“We request motor vehicle owners who have received SMS notifications on the collection of reflective number plates to visit the centers they identified during the application process.”
The adjustment has been made following a recent directive by Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to clear the backlog.
“I have given NTSA 2 weeks to clear this backlog; notify Kenyans of their nearest collection points, and put in place the necessary mechanisms to speed up the turnaround time for processing and issuance of DLs, logbooks, and digital number plates,” said Murkomen during an impromptu visit.
The CS gave the institution and the printing company 7 days to send a full report as to why there were delays and measures they had taken to resolve the issues.
