Paarwater urge Simbas to improve on attack systems ahead of Currie Cup tie

Kenya’s rugby fifteens national team, Simba head coach Jerome Paarwater has decried his side’s lack of execution of set pieces that cost them a win against Eastern Province in the ongoing Currie Cup tie in South Africa over the weekend.
According to Paarwater, the Simbas were not able to maintain the scrum and lineouts which gave the opponents an opportunity to pounce on them winning 18-7.
The Simba’s lone try was scored by Hillary Mwanjilwa and converted by Ntabeni Dukisa as the Simbas trailed 10-7 at half-time.
This is Simba’s second loss in the ongoing Currie Cup tournament having lost 32-22 to San Clemente Rhinos in Cape Town a fortnight ago.
“Our second-half performance was not great. We battled well in the first half but in the second, our set piece was not able to get parity. We were not competitive enough to secure a win, that gives us a lot to work on ahead of the next fixture,” Paarwater said.
Paarwater also noted his side will have to improve on their attack systems to be able to pose a competitive side in the remaining fixtures. This is after the Simba second half saw them fail to score a try.
“We dropped a couple of balls in the second half and a couple of times, there was a miscommunication with the final pass, those avoidable mistakes really cost us in this fixture, and going forward I believe we should perfect our attack systems,” he added
The Simbas face Border Bulldogs on Saturday and skipper George Nyambua is confident of bouncing back. “It was a tough game, but we have learned our lessons,” said Nyambua.
