The County Public Accounts Committee of the Senate has raised concerns over what it terms as sluggish progress of various major projects in Uasin Gishu County, most of which were launched during the tenure of the former governor, Jackson Mandago.
Among the projects highlighted were the completion of the 64 stadium that was allocated KSh1.1B and Ziwa level five hospital in which the senators found KSh 12M unaccounted for.

The Committee led by its chair, senator Moses Kajwang, stated that despite billions of shillings having been allocated, lack of accountability by Governor Jonathan Bii continues to raise eyebrows.
Kajwang emphasized on the need of leaders to show integrity by ensuring that the output of taxpayers money is transparent.
” We are really not seeing the value for money for the projects in this county. The slow pace of development raises questions about efficiency of the county government leadership,”said Kajwang.
Governor Bii, while defending his administration blamed the budgetary constraints, stating the insufficient allocations has made it difficult for the county to fulfill its duty to the public. He however promised to act fast on the projects, while calling for support form the private sector.
“Overseeing the completion of the mega projects in the county is really difficult when there are insufficient funds. I am open to partnerships that will ensure that the residents of Uasin Gishu get quality infrastructure they deserve,” stated Bii.
Senator Kajwang not once called for investigations from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission as well as the Office of the Auditor General with regards to embezzlement of public funds
